On the opening page, I mentioned new responsibilities for fire departments, which these codes do add. However, careful management, recognizing that most of the real work can be done by contractors (paid for by and on behalf of the building owner) can reduce a fire departments involvement to a few hours of additional effort (than required prior to these new fire codes).
